The Government of Namibia is committed to the principles of adequate shelter for all and promotion of sustainable human settlement development. Therefore, the Namibian Government placed housing provision as one of its priority areas for development. This led to the formulation and approval of Namibia’s first National Housing Policy in 1991. The Policy was subsequently reviewed and replaced by the National Housing Policy of 2009. Similarly, various strategies and programmes were introduced and implemented to provide land and housing, especially to the ultra-, low-, and middle-income groups.
